5G Cloud, AIoT and Edge Computing

In this talk, Dr. Hwang will assess recent advances in big data, Internet clouds, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things(IoT) and edge computing. The impacts of 5G mobile cores, AI chips and servers, satellite system, and network slicing techniques are evaluated for industrial manufacturing, supply chain management, and fusion applications with social media, business and industrial datacenters. He will share the system design and benchmark experiences of the pioneering 5G cloud/AIoT platform built on the CUHK campus, recently.
This research cloud was originally designed and constructed with commercial components at the Shenzhen Institute of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics for Society (AIRS) on the campus of CUHK in Shenzhen. The system was optimized for big data analytics, AIoT (for AI+IoT), machine learning, and industrial robotics applications. We aim to open the system as a hybrid cloud to serve the Greater Pearl River Bay area in southern China. The system will become fully operational by September 2020.
